A representative of the Muskoka Ratepayers’ Association attended the first virtual “community chat” regarding the newly proposed “Made-in-Muskoka Healthcare” system hosted by Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare on Friday, February 2nd, 2024. This newly proposed hospital model will have emergency rooms at both hospitals, operating 24 hours 7 days a week, as well as diagnostic imaging and in-patients beds.

As was explained at the “community chat” the new hospital in Bracebridge will have 14 beds to support ER admissions and 4 “level 2” ICU beds. The Bracebridge site will concentrate on ambulatory and out patient services and diagnostic tests. The Huntsville site will be for more complex longer hospital admissions. This site will have 139 beds for acute care rehabilitation, general surgery, obstetrics, and 10 “level 3” ICU beds, as well as “stroke beds” and an MRI.

There is still time to hear what Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare has to say!

A second virtual “community chat” is being held on Monday, February 5th, 2024 at 7 PM to sign up go to www.mahc.ca/communitychats. Or you can attend in person on Tuesday, February 6th, 2024 at 7 PM at the Bracebridge Sportsplex Auditorium or Wednesday, February 7th, 2024 at 7 PM in person at the Port Carling Community Centre.
